                          • Coronavirus, in Bergamo + 400% of deaths in March, says Istat

Deaths quadrupled in Bergamo in the first three weeks of March compared to the same period of 2019, deaths doubled in the city of Brescia and in other centers where coronavirus cases were particularly high. The statistics were released by Istat and confirm how high the price in human lives paid by some areas of Italy to the epidemic and lengthens the suspicions that the deaths from Covid-19 counted by the statistics are not all those killed by the virus.

                            In Bergamo + 400%

In the first 21 days of March in the North - the statistics institute says - the deaths more than doubled compared to the 2015-19 average. The data emerges from the explanatory note accompanying the data on mortality in Italy. The analysis, which takes into account 1,084 municipalities, highlights in particular the situation in Bergamo, where deaths have almost quadrupled 'going from an average of 91 cases in 2015-2019 to 398 in 2020'. 'Increases of the same intensity, when not higher - reads - affect most of the municipalities in the province of Bergamo'.

Decessi quadruplicati rispetto un anno fa; più che raddoppiati invece a Brescia, Pesaro e Piacenza, altri province dopo l’epidemia è stata particolarmente aggressiva

                            • Coronavirus in Italy, 110,574 positive cases and 13,155 deaths.

In Italy, since the beginning of the Coronavirus epidemic, 110,574 people have contracted the Sars-CoV-2 virus (4,782 people more than yesterday for a 4.5% growth). Of these, 13,155 died 727 (+ 5.8%) and 16,847 recovered. Currently there are 80,572 positive subjects (the count rises to 110,574 - as mentioned above - if there are also dead and healed in the calculation, that is, counting all the people who have been found positive to the virus since the beginning of the epidemic). The data were provided by the Civil Protection.

Here you will find a ?reading guide? of the bulletin, with the explanation of the various items; here the experts explain how long it will take to understand if the restrictions work, here instead what are the predictions regarding the peak. This is the map of contagion in Italy. Here the newsletters of the past few days.
